How To Find A Niche In Marketing

How To Find A Niche In Marketing

People often ask me, "Ryan, how do I find a niche"? My answer is always the same... just find one! Become a researcher and do the things that others are not necessarily willing to do. Go to the bookstore and look through the magazines. Find publications that you didn't even know existed. Maybe you can find a magazine on pet clothing or with your research you discover that there are hundreds of thousands of people that subscribe to information about making your home-made beer taste better or whatever!

The point is that there are subject matters out there that real people are reading about, talking about, studying, getting excited about, participating in, and purchasing! Find out what they are doing. Keep your eyes and ears open. Talk with people. Ask them questions about T-H-E-M! You will find that people are both fasinating and willing to talk about themselves. Then listen to what they say. I once was in a conversation with a stranger at a funeral and he told me what that his true passion was building wooden baseball bats! I just began asking questions.

"How did you get into that? How long have you been doing it? What's the process? Who are your customers? Who else builds bats? How have you gotten better at it over time? What trade shows do you like to visit? Do you customize bats? What do you charge? Why do people buy them from you?"

First and foremost I was completely interested and fasinated with his passion! He loved making bats and his excitement was addictive. I found myself getting excited with him.

Bottom line, that one conversation has turned into $100 of passive monthly income for me. It pays my cable bill every month. I took the information that I learned at a funeral and spent about 2 hours on a very basic, self-sustaining, project that I haven't touched in two years. It makes money month after month after month. This is a small example of how I "discovered" a niche by using my ears and mouth to make money online.

I had no interest in baseball bats before meeting this man, but now using the Internet I make a passive income from home with the niche. I also discovered that with a little bit of effort, I could make thousands of dollars monthly with this niche. I just haven't gotten to it yet.

Your assignment: In the next 21 days find a 3 niches. Whether you decide to make money from home using these niches or not, doesn't matter. Your assignment is to simply identify 3 niches so that you see how easy it is to find them if you're thinking about it.

If you have any questions about making money from home using the internet or online marketing, please reply and I'll do my best to answer your question.

To your success,

Online Secrets To Making Money

1 Secret To Making Big Profits Online
By Ryan Ringold
There are many principles to learn and much information to master if you want to make money online, however, here is ONE must-know secret that will catapult you to success on the internet!

1. Find a niche: There are two theories in marketing. The first theory says market to the masses. It talks about finding a product or service that almost everyone needs. The test for this type of product is to walk down the street and ask every person if they'd want this product or service. If most people answer yes, then you have something to sell to the masses. However, the problem with this type of product is that you can not focus in on your target market and speak to them with laser-like communication that targets in on their hopes, wants, fears, desires, and problems.

As a marketer you need to understand what the prospect is thinking and feeling. This is tough when you try to sell to a mass market. I know some wildly successful marketers that take this approach, however, I know many incredibly successful marketers who don't.

Instead they follow the niche approach to marketing and sales. The niche approach is simply zoning in and narrowing down a group of people to whom you can market your product or service. This niche will share common interests and subscribe to the same or similar magazines. They will read the same books and hang out at the same locations. An example of a niche would be golfers.

The benefit of marketing to a niche is that you can really learn to talk to their listening because you can learn about them and understand their hopes, fears, and desires. You know what they are reading, what they are talking about, and what problems need to be solved.

The quicker that you can identify a niche, the closer you are to making big profits!

Make Money On The Internet

"Who Else Wants To Make Money 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a Week... WITHOUT Leaving Home, Fighting Rush Hour Traffic, or Working for a Boss... While Raking In Cash Sitting In Your Underwear?"

Written by Ryan Ringold

My friends just laughed at me when I told them that I was going to start an internet business from home and make money online using my computer.... but now they want to know how I have so many Saturdays during the week!

It feels like I have 7 days of Saturday now that I've been making money online for over 4 years as my full time income. I recently purchased a brand new BMW, take plenty of vacations, travel on weekends, enjoy EVERY Detroit Pistons home game (41 per season, plus playoffs), and sleep in until I wake up... yes.... until I wake up. No alarm clocks, no wake up calls, no rush hour traffic to fight, no boss telling me what I have to do.

It's a dream come true. I spend many hours of the day in my underwear while I'm working from home. If I want to keep an eye on business when I travel, then I just bring my laptop along with me and check on things. You know... answer a few customer service emails.... make a few changes to my websites... test a few new ideas.

You'd be surprised at how many of us are out there doing this! We are a bit like an underground community making boatloads of cash while working from home. I have gotten to know many other individuals just like me carving out a fabulous living making money on the internet. Many of us like to keep it hush hush because we don't want the competition to find out how we are quietly making small fortunes online.

Many people remember the dot com bust not that many years back and thought that internet companies weren't making any money. Well part of that may be true. Internet companies many times don't have a clue on what they are doing. I'm not kidding. They hire all these fancy computer people and bring in hard asses with MBA's and all sorts of big shot degrees.... but they still get it wrong.

Meanwhile, it's the people like me who have no formal education in computers or business that are making all the money. It's the people like me that are running highly profitable internet business that are making all types of money and we're doing it under the radar from the big boys.

Once you understand how to put up a profitable website and make a living with it, then you can constantly give yourself a pay raise by duplicating your success with new sites. For example, in January of this year I added a brand new website and it immediately began making huge profits. It did over $40,000 in it's 3rd full month alone! You tell me where I could work for someone else and give myself that kind of monthly pay raise? Are you kidding me? It would never happen. However, when you learn internet marketing you can give yourself as many raises as often as you'd like.

Is it too late to get started?

I'd say that it's more competitive than it was 4 years ago, but making money on the internet is still in it's infancy. The important thing is that you get started. Get started now! You see when I started over 4 years ago I didn't know what I was doing and it took me many, many, many hours and a lot of money to figure it out.

The good news for you is that you can learn from mistakes of people like me. You can either learn by trial and error like I did and spend thousands of dollars buying information on how to do it (much of it was a rip off, but some very good) or you can have a mentor teach you and work with you. If you have a mentor or "coach" holding your hand, then it can save you much needed time and money.

I recommend finding someone that has been successful and learn what they did and do what they do.

I've done some consulting in the past and have done a bit of coaching, but quite frankly it's just not worth my time. I charge $500 per hour for consulting when I do it (I've charged as much as $1000 per hour), however, it's hard for me to give up my time. That's why I got into internet marketing... so I would have freedom and time.

I've had several people ask me if I'd put together a program that would help them get started with a home based business on the computer. I'm still thinking about it. I'm leaning towards doing something to help eager entrepreneurs get their start online, but it's probably a ways out still.

I'll keep you posted.

If you have any questions, then leave a comment and I'll do my best to answer them.

SEO Tactics

When I first started in the online marketing industry, I spent most of my time looking for ways to pay for traffic to my websites. I found that this was the quickest and easiest ways to attract customers and prospects to my products and services. What I found was that while many paid campaigns were wildly successful, nothing beats free traffic.

By learning some basic search engine optimization skills, I quickly began to get first page listings in Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Not only were my listings on the first pages, but many of them were in the top 3 free positions! Needless to say my revenues and profits began to skyrocket as those listings settled in those top positions in the search engines.

SEO is a funny game. There are many things that you can do to help your keyword rankings for your website and many can be effective strategies. Over time, however, you’ll discover that playing the SEO game can be a tough game to be fighting. The big search engines are modifying, changing, and updating the way they deliver information all the time. This can be frustrating for the small guy who spends time and money for a good listing in Google or Yahoo to find out that he wakes up one day and his listing has vanished.

For this reason, it’s important not place all your eggs into one basket when it comes to marketing and advertising your website. Spread your marketing arms out into multiple areas so that you have multiple ways to attract customers and prospects. If you rely heavily on SEO tactics or too heavily on paid advertising from specific sites, then you setting yourself up for D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R.

Online List Building

How many times have you heard that the money is in the list?

If you've been around marketing even an inkling, then you've most definitely heard this saying many times. The question is if you understand how true it is or not. The list is what can allow a good marketer to make money FOREVER and EVER!

It took me a long while to really begin to understand the power of the list. Before I understood that the real money in business and marketing was in the list, I made money the hard way. I had to constantly attract new customers on a daily basis. Now you should never stop attracting new customers or prospects for your online business (or offline business for that matter), however, making money became a whole lot easier when I discovered the power of the list.

I'm fortunate that I'm good at what I do for a living and that I know how to attract new customers every single day so that I can be out playing and not fretting over making money online. Things really changed when I began to use the list to my advantage. For example, the first time I really understood the power of the list was when I sent an email to the list that I had built for a niche market and made just over $2,000 that day from the email that I sent out.

I was in my underwear at my computer in my bedroom! I sent the email and went on my business and when I came home that night I found out that I had made an extra $2,000 because of my list. Nice surprise, huh?

Marketing your business online and making money on the internet uses the same principles as marketing your business offline. However, the online world moves and changes at a much quicker speed. This speed is actually a good thing if you use it to your advantage.

For example if you wanted to send out a mailing to your list of customers from your men's clothing store announcing a special offer on men's suits for the month, then you would have to print all of your materials, apply postage, send in the mail, and wait to see the response. If you wanted to test two different mailings to discover which one was more effective, it could take you weeks to get your results.

The beautiful thing about making money online is that you can get those results back in days, hours, or minutes. If you wanted to know which headline converted the most prospects to customers, then you could have it up and running in minutes and get your results withing hours or a couple of days.

Nothing beats the speed and power of marketing online.

Making Money Online

Internet Marketing

Making Money Online

by Ryan Ringold

It was the year 2002 when I began making my full time income on the internet. The strange thing at the time was that I had no background with computers, or any internet training, nor any website design skills. As a matter of fact, I knew very little about computers all together. Sure I could turn one on and surf the web and use some common programs like word processors or email clients, but my knowledge was very limited.

I was 30 years old at the time and I had already failed several times at starting my own business. I still considered myself an entrepreneur and prided myself on being one. It just hadn’t made me any money yet. I was over $60,000 in debt just 4 years prior and declared bankruptcy after a complete failing I had in another small business that I had started. Now, four years later, I was again tens of thousands of dollars in debt and was scraping change together to buy fuel for my car. I remember paying for gas with $2 or $3 at a time. I was so embarrassed.

The internet! The World Wide Web! What a fabulous place, or thing, or whatever it is. I had heard of people making fortunes using the World Wide Web! When I stopped to think about it, it seemed like a modern day gold rush. More and more people were connecting to the internet every single day. More dollars were being spent every month of every year. Who were the people that were throwing their nets out there to catch some of that raging river of cash that was flowing bye 24/7 in cyberspace?

How did they know how to make money? Were these people like the one’s that headed west when they heard you could find gold in the rivers? Was this truly a modern day gold rush?

All I know is that I had to try to get a piece of it. What an amazing time in history. The Internet is just getting warmed up. The advent of the Internet puts mankind at a unique time in history. The world's boundaries disappear as you chat with friends at the corner of the globe. Businesses make transactions with customers while the business owners are sleeping in the U.S. and customers in China are buying. Billions and billions of dollars change hands over the World Wide Web each day.

So how can I get a piece of it? That’s what I was asking myself back in the fall of 2001. I just wanted a piece. Any piece really! I thought if I could make $50 or $100 per month using the Internet, then I would be a real modern day entrepreneur. I could be lumped in with the few people that made money online. That would make me proud. I’d get bragging rights that I was taking advantage of the biggest opportunity of my lifetime.

So, I sat down one day determined to discover how to make money using a computer connected to this absolute incredible tool they called the information super highway. What exactly was it and where did it go? I never would have been able to guess where it would lead me on that one fateful day... that’s for sure. After 3 long months, working, researching, surfing the web for over 100 hours per week (I was jobless at the time)... I felt like I began to get a very faint understanding of possibly how some people were making money with the Internet.

I spent so much time on the computer that I had to have surgery on my elbow to relieve a nerve and now have a four inch scar that will always remind me of my journey.

Since sitting down that first day with a fire in my belly wanting to make money using the internet, I have since earned hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars using the Internet. I’ve made my full time living since the early months of 2002 using the World Wide Web and the computer in my bedroom.

As a matter of fact, in January of 2006 I launched a completely new business online and in the first 4 months it brought in $134,597.74. This is a completely new venture that I began separate from my other online business.

I'm starting this blog today to share my secrets and techniques in marketing and making money online. I'm here to answer your questions, so please ask me your marketing questions. I'll do my best to answer them and I'll do my best to answer them in a timely fashion.
