SEO Tactics

When I first started in the online marketing industry, I spent most of my time looking for ways to pay for traffic to my websites. I found that this was the quickest and easiest ways to attract customers and prospects to my products and services. What I found was that while many paid campaigns were wildly successful, nothing beats free traffic.

By learning some basic search engine optimization skills, I quickly began to get first page listings in Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Not only were my listings on the first pages, but many of them were in the top 3 free positions! Needless to say my revenues and profits began to skyrocket as those listings settled in those top positions in the search engines.

SEO is a funny game. There are many things that you can do to help your keyword rankings for your website and many can be effective strategies. Over time, however, you’ll discover that playing the SEO game can be a tough game to be fighting. The big search engines are modifying, changing, and updating the way they deliver information all the time. This can be frustrating for the small guy who spends time and money for a good listing in Google or Yahoo to find out that he wakes up one day and his listing has vanished.

For this reason, it’s important not place all your eggs into one basket when it comes to marketing and advertising your website. Spread your marketing arms out into multiple areas so that you have multiple ways to attract customers and prospects. If you rely heavily on SEO tactics or too heavily on paid advertising from specific sites, then you setting yourself up for D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R.
